Alaska: Northern Lights Adventure

I went on the Northern Lights tour- the brochure was so detailed and alluring with all of the planned events being awesome. Everyone was easy to communicate with. Favorite part was honestly the camaraderie facilitated by the leaders between groups members, but as far as activities, Chena Hot Springs was my favorite experience. We stayed at Taste of Alaska Lodge. All 3 tour guides were amazing : Jack was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgable about the area and the state overall. He provided interesting information and answered any questions I had. He was also kind and supportive. He made me feel very welcome and comfortable each day. John was phenomenal-- on a basic level he drove safely which is important. He made sure everyone was comfortable and accommodated questions about the area as well as Gondwana in general. I had a couple emotional moments and he made sure to check in with me which was very much needed. He created space for this to be more than ""just a vacation,"" including personal, psychological, social justice, ecology and sociology perspectives. Laurie she was incredibly smart regarding the aurora and the photography--- what a perfect match. She was also very outgoing and friendly.

We travelled 4,000 miles from England to do the Northern Lights tour and it was absolutely worth it! We enjoyed every minute of the 8-day tour, particular highlights being Chena hot springs, the Running Reindeer Ranch, curling, dog sledding and meeting a farming family who welcomed us with moose casserole and freshly baked bread; we even saw the aurora! The tour guides were incredibly knowledgeable and kind, going the extra mile to make sure we all had the best time, and each day was filled with just the right amount of activity. It was all meticulously planned to ensure we made the most of our time in Alaska, and it truly was the holiday of a lifetime; thanks to John, De and Kyle, and also to Debbie and Kory who made us so welcome at the Taste of Alaska Lodge - what a team!

One month ago my husband, 2 teenage boys and I had the privilege of travelling with Gondwana Ecotours around Fairbanks, Alaska. This was no ordinary holiday – it was an experience that made me laugh and cry with joy, be in awe of Alaska’s beauty in the depths of winter, and connect with fellow travellers and guides who started as strangers but became friends in such a short period of time. Every detail of every day and night was perfect. Thanks to perfect weather, we saw extraordinary Aurora on multiple evenings, and Kyle our Aurora guide was helpful, informative and wonderful company late at night. Our accommodation at A Taste of Alaska Lodge was unique, very comfortable and the service we received was as if we were family. The daily activities were diverse, informative and so much fun – from Museums to Hot Springs to Dog Sledding. And seriously, who gets to pat and walk with real life reindeers?! Our guides Jack and John are beyond compare. Their knowledge, attention to detail, and fun and relaxed manner made everyday amazing. They made each and every person feel special, shared many great stories/facts and truly helped to make our trip perfect in every way. Thank you for looking after us so well! xx One week after we returned home, we booked our second tour with Gondwana to see Alaska this summer. 😊

Just returned from the Northern Lights tour which was amazing. Saw numerous sites in and around Fairbanks during the day time. Our tour guide, Greg, and professional photographer, Joe, were phenomenal. When I had cold feet issues, Greg took care of me and made sure I was ok. Joe was great about getting us up when the Aurora began. The owners of Northern Sky Lodge were very welcoming, answered any questions we had, and fed us too much delicious food.

"Loved, loved, loved the Northern Lights tour! I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights, but being a cold-natured, southern girl, I dreaded having to be cold to see them. If that's your concern, this is the tour for you. Temps ranged from 12 to -16 during the third week in Feb 2023, and I stayed very warm except for a few minutes a couple of different times. Our knowledgeable guides, Jack and Ericka, had our bus toasty warm and parked close to the door regardless of when and where we went. They took multiple pix during all the wonderful activities and our aurora guide, Kyle, did the same at night and posted them to our group-linked web page. They did such a great job with this, I only took a few pix myself and rarely took my mittens off while outdoors. Communications from beginning to end were great, the activities even better, and God smiled on us by sending the northern lights for us to see three of the six nights that we were at the lodge. The reindeer farm was a lot of fun with the owner, who's a hoot, learning to curl was challenging, dog sledding was awesome, and the other activities were great, too. I reluctantly tried the hot springs and was so glad I did. Thirty seconds of being miserably cold was worth it! Food at the lodge and the selected restaurants was plentiful and wonderful, too. Beds at the lodge were very comfortable, and we had instant hot water in our bathroom."

My husband and I went on the Northern Lights tour with another couple in March. To say it was an outstanding experience barely expresses the experience. The tour guides were excellent, very knowledgeable and fun! Seeing the lights was a spectacle to behold for sure!!! And the daytime activities were amazing, exciting and adventurous. We have recommended this tour to many and look forward to doing another tour with Gondwana when the world returns to at least a semblance of normal.

One of the best guided tours we've had. Gondwana has put together a great tour that has given us a glimpse of the history of Alaska and how it has developed into the Alaska we now know. The tour also attracted wonderful people that we had great pleasure in meeting. We stayed at A Taste Of Alaska Lodge owned by Debbie, the sweetest person you could ever meet. And of course Kyle Hasner, the fountain of knowledge regarding photographing the Aurora Borealis. DeAnna Roering and John Peirce are prime examples of what tour guides should be. Their vast knowledge of Alaska, sense of humor and professionalism are traits that all tour guides should aim for. I wish there's a way for them to be cloned so that more people can also be fortunate to have them as guides as Evelyn and I were. Thank you Dee and John.

So glad we booked with Gondwana Northern Lights 7 night tour. If you want to see the N Lights, stay for at least 7 days in March or maybe October/November. December, Jan, Feb are too cold and often cloudy. Alaska Grizzly Lodge is perfect location away from city lights with great viewing decks. We could got to sleep in warm bed and if lights flared up we could run out on to deck to see them. The photographer at lodge kept watch to wake you if the Lights started and would take you portrait. Just asked for tips for payment if you liked your photo. Everyday we had fun activities so even if Lights done't show up you know you'll have fun. Dog sled ride was by far my favorite.

We went on the northern lights tour in February of 2022, we had a BLAST. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing, the bus driver Muriel was the bomb, the guide Carter was great ,the people we were with were the most fun ,the lodge was perfect , we can't say enough about the whole trip and the ease of booking the tour . We highly recommend Gondwana tours ,they have ot together. Thanks guys for such a great experience

What an incredible trip! My wife and I did a week long Northern Lights adventure in the first week of March 2021 and it was perfect! We were hoping to slightly modify our trip to suit our desires of a more active itinerary and they far exceeded our expectations. We went cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and we learned to ride the dogsleds of the Iditarod! All this while also learning a lot about the culture and lifestyle of the hearty people of Interior Alaska. It was a great mix of activities and cultural education and our guides Janet, Fred, and Sarah were amazing. We stayed in a very comfortable and cozy lodge that had immediate access to several trails into the wilderness, and the food was great throughout the trip. I could not recommend this trip more! You should definitely go, just bring warm clothes!

Seeing the northern lights has always been something I wanted to see. Fred and Janet are great guides. They are very knowledgeable about Fairbanks and other parts of Alaska. We had a great time. Gabe was excellent, helping with getting cameras ready for the northern lights and waking us up when they appeared. I would recommend Gondwana Ecotour Northern lights tour.

The Gondwana Alaskan Northern Lights tour was our first trip with Gondwana. The venue, the staff, the attention to details, and the pre- and post- attention we received was outstanding. It was a dream trip. We are already discussing which Gondwana tour we can take next.

The Northern Lights tour was hands down the best trip of my life. The guides, Fred and Janet, were both so knowledgeable, personable and welcoming. His background working on development/engineering and hers in anthropology were complimentary and led to a very comprehensive perspective and experience. My husband and I booked with Gondwana for the Alaskan Northern Lights tour last February 2020. From the beginning to the end of our trip, we received amazing service from Fred, our tour guide. When we travel, we want to see whatever makes the area we are visiting, unique, and that’s what we received in Fairbanks. From the Alaskan Pipeline, the Cultural center, curling lesson, Chena hot springs, Running Reindeer Ranch visit, dog sled ride and authentic dining, we had a ball! My wife and I went with a group of friends on the Northern Lights tour in October 2021. Our hosts Fred and Janet were very knowledgeable and friendly. The activities and their local insights gave us a sense of the real Alaska. We were lucky to have a great view of the lights right from the Alaska Grizzly Lodge.

Gondwana delivers! We chose the Northern Lights tour with them because we like small groups. After looking over their website and all the detailed information they provide about the activities, lodging and guides we decided to book the tour. Jared and Jake email you directly and make sure you know they are available to answer any questions or concerns. They email you detailed information on what to pack, what type of camera works best to photograph the aurora, what to do when you arrive in Fairbanks, etc. The guides were awesome and so easy to be with that along with a group of congenial fellow travelers we were sorry to part when the tour was over. The activities were fun and interesting and it seemed like everyone we met had really interesting backgrounds and stories. Do not hesitate … book a tour with Gondwana!

So many people have been asking me about how I take such amazing trips and I get so excited to tell them about this company. So far, I’ve seen the Northern Lights in Alaska and hiked beautiful glaciers in Argentina and I cannot wait to add to my experiences with Gondwana Ecotours. I have met some of the kindest, funniest people along the way and all without having to stress about whether or not I am missing any beautiful or interesting sights because the tour guides with Gondwana know their stuff! They know exactly what’s worth seeing, eating and drinking and when to go! I cannot recommend this company enough.

Stefanie Macomb Elliott and I went on the Northern Lights tour from December 26 - January 2 and it was awesome. It was on my bucket list to see the Northern Lights and I am so glad we went with Gondwana Ecotours! They are just awesome. We saw the Northern Lights almost every night and had so many additional adventures such as running with the reindeer, visiting Chena Hot Springs, dog sledding (one of my favorites), curling, seeing Santa's House at North Pole and so much more! If you are considering a Northern Lights tour I would definitely go with them!!

We went on the Northern Lights tour from Dec.26 - Jan 2, 2023. It was amazing and one of our best vacations ever. It's hard to believe we fit all those activities in in just one week! We saw the auroras almost every night we were there. That was so awesome!! We really enjoyed the dog sledding, Reindeer Ranch, Frigid Farms, curling lesson, all the great restaurants - the food was top notch!! Who knew Fairbanks, Alaska had amazing Thai restaurants. The Crepery was the best though. We also really appreciated the visit to North Pole, Alaska, Chena Hot Springs, and the snow machining optional excursion we were able to fit in! We stayed at the incredible Taste of Alaska Lodge. Our tour guide Jack is simply the best! He was incredibly knowledgable about the area and the state overall. He provided interesting information and answered any questions I had. He was also kind and supportive. He made me feel very welcome and comfortable each day. And he bought one of my books too!!

Just finished the Northern Light’s Tour. We had the most amazing time. Janet Vreeman was the best guide—extremely knowledgeable, patient & just a wealth of information. One of the things that made the tour so memorable to us was the tour took you off the beaten path by visiting small business & museums. We feel we got a much better understanding of the diverse peoples & history of Alaska. Janet & Fred were very attentive to our needs—both are great people. Will definitely look for tours with them as guides. Gabe King made sure we saw the Northern Lights four times during our tour. He helped us all get great pictures & was also very knowledgeable. We went to exciting/fun places! Saw the Northern Lights, several times. Learned a lot about our largest state. Our guide, Fred Vreeman was great!! It was a wonderful trip & I certainly would recommend it.

We went on the Alaska Northern Lights Adventure your in February 2019. Gondwana made this a fabulous experience by having a smaller more intimate group of 12. Our group jelled instantly and some of us still stay in touch after 2 years. Our guides kept us mesmerized and entertained with their experiential stories of Alaska living. We were able to see many out-of-the-way nontouristy restaurants, shops and experiences and yes, the Northern Lights. From the Pipeline to Curling lessons, it was money well spent and the trip of a lifetime!!

The Northern Lights tour was so much fun and Janet V. was so informative about all things Alaskan. Roy was great about alerting us when the Northern Lights came out to play across the sky. The sunrise dog sled ride was absolutely beautiful and the Running Reindeer ranch was so fun. The cultural center and museum has great exhibits. I learned lots about all things Alaskan The Thanksgiving meal was very special and so delicious. The busy week ended in a truly appreciated soak in the Chena Hot Springs The whole trip was planned out wonderfully. I’m already saving/planning for another trip

I just went to Alaska in January 2020 to see the Aurora Northern Lights with Gondwana Ecotours. What I found is that the Aurora brought me to the trip but it was the rest of the tour that made it really, really special. I put this trip at the top of my list for favorite trips and I have taken about 100 trips. The tour guides were both wonderful and took such good care of us all. The lodge was beautiful and very clean. The pictures we took of the Aurora lights with the lodge in the background looked like it came out of a hallmark movie, breathtaking. The excursions that came with the tour were so much fun and gave me a taste of Alaska life. I loved them all so really difficult to say what my favorites were. We went dog sledding (and yes interacted with the friendliest dogs), hung out with reindeer, visited a farm where the owners treated us like family, went into natural hot springs, we were taught how to play the Olympic curling sport and lots more. Thank You Gondwana for the best time ever. I am recommending you to everyone I speak too.

I chose Gondwana to fulfill my dream of watching Aurora, and I am glad that we make it. What's more, Gondwana provides great accommodations, fun and educational activities, and awesome local tours.

My husband and I returned from the Gondwana Northern Lights tour about two weeks ago. The whole experience was out of this world. We stayed at the Taste of Alaska Lodge which was friendly and welcoming. The two guides that were with us all week (David and Jack) were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. It is a small group tour (19 people) and it was great to get to know each other during the course of the week. The side trips during the day were a lot of fun from learning to curl, reindeer ranch, mushing, and having a wonderful dinner with a family on their farm. They had a guide who came at night and work us up to see the Northern Lights when they started coming out. The experience is indescribable. If the Northern Lights is on you bucket list --- go Gondwana.

My husband and I did the Northern lights tour in April 2023 and it was hands down the best tour we have been a part of. We love to travel and have used many travel companies, but the Gondwana Ecotour company is FAR beyond any experience we have had. Every person in the company that we interacted with was extremely kind and accommodating, doing everything they could to make sure we had the best experience possible. The tour itself was well planned, extremely detailed, and SO MUCH FUN! From the perfect lodging location, meals, events/experiences, tour guides, transportation...you name it, not a single detail wasn't truly magical and stress free. We cannot recommend the Gondwana Ecotour company enough. They truly care about your experience and do everything in their power to make sure you have the best time. We have recommended them to all of our travel friends. We will also be traveling with them again when the time comes. You will not be disappointed, trust me. We are so impressed!

Gondwana Ecotours - Northern Lights provided a wonderful small group tour (15 people) with 2 very professional and experienced guides (Jack and David) during the day and an additional aurora expert (Melissa) each night. Each day was filled with fun and very different activities in the Fairbanks area, while the nights were devoted to aurora viewing (and we were not disappointed). Daytime activities included Chena Hot Springs and ice sculpture museum, curling, reindeer ranch, North Pole, frontier Fairbanks, antique car museum, dog sledding, frontier farm, shopping, natural history museum, and Alaska pipeline. We were very fortunate to be able to view the aurora just steps from our cabin on most nights, with, of course, a wake-up aurora call from Melissa. Lodging (Taste of Alaska) was very comfortable and meals were varied and delicious, both at the main lodge and several area restaurants. As the sun was setting on clear days, we were able to see Denali Mountain from the main lodge -- a distance of over 170 miles. Even the Gondwana bus was spacious, well heated, and very comfortable, with Jack and David providing interesting narratives about upcoming sights and tales of their personal experiences in Alaska. I would very highly recommend Gondwana Ecotours - Northern Lights to anyone who has viewing the aurora as a bucket list destination.

My husband and I just celebrated our 82nd and 75th birthdays on our Gondwana northern lights adventure at Taste of Alaska Lodge. We had taken trips to Finland and Iceland in search of the aurora and after seeing no aurora we finally found amazing lights on this fabulous trip 6 nights in a row! Our guides Greg, Mark and Kyle and hosts Corey, Debbie, and Emily made every day and every night absolutely perfect. We sat in the cabin with Kyle nearly every night and were delighted by his knowledge and skill to help us see and appreciate the lights. It was also great that he could buzz our room to let us know the lights were out. We loved the lights, the lodge, the curling, the museum, our time with the amazing story teller Daniel, walking with the reindeer, the sled dog ride, the food including the home made bread and moose stew at our visit with a wonderful farm family and our lovely last dinner, the hot springs and our time with our sweet group of 17 lovely tour mates. Thanks for the great week. We are telling everyone to travel with Gondwana regardless of age. This trip would be great for people of all ages. As active seniors, we have taken many tours and you all are the best!

Taste of Alaska. Jack, John, and Laurie did an outstanding job. You never know about the lights but on one of the nights they were SPECTACULAR. The curling, reindeer, and dog sledding made.it that more enjoyable. They keep you busy and I was exhausted by the end of the week. Don't think about it, just do it.

Just completed our tour of the Northern Lights. 3/1-3/8 From start to finish everything was great. Staff, food and accommodations made for a real Alaskan experience. Luckily our tour included a trip to the start line of the 2025 Iditarod and the international ice carving festival which just happened to be our week. They made sure we did not miss this great experience and squeezed it all in without missing anything that was part of the original schedule. This trip is as real as it gets without moving to Alaska as a permanent resident. Shout out to our guides Arabella and Jack they are very knowledgeable and great guides and now friend

Seeing the Northern Lights was a bucket list item for me. January 2024 I was researching tours and Gondwana Ecotours came up. We reviewed the itinerary and schedule the Northern Lights Tour for the end of December and it was the most amazing trip. Our guide, Arabella, bus driver, Bonnie and Melissa, our aurora guide, were amazing. They both kept us entertained with Alaska history and personal stories. We saw the Aurora 5 nights and they were magical. The colors were spectacular and the dancing aurora beyond anything you can imagine. The activities like walking with the reindeer, dog sledding, museums, Chena Hot Springs, the sustainable farm, Alaska Pipeline and all the restaurants were exciting and fun. When we were learning to curl, we met Colin Hufman, an Olympian from the 2022 Beijing Olympics. We also thoroughly enjoyed staying at Taste of Alaska Lodge. The meals were great and Kory, Debbie and staff ensured our stay was perfect. The lodge setting was so beautiful and it was great to walk right outside the lodge when Melissa rang the chimes for the Aurora. We highly recommend the Northern Lights Tour

We went on the Northern Lights tour February 2025 and absolutely loved it. It was one of the best vacations we have ever been on. We stayed at the Marriott the Saturday night we got there and Sunday we went to the Taste of Alaska Lodge. Our guides took our luggage from the Marriott and put it in our room at the lodge. Everything was so well planned out and nice. We had an alarm in our room that would go off at night when the Northern Lights were out. We could walk down to the warming hut and watch the Northern Lights. We could also see them right outside our sliding glass door in our room. The meals were delicious. We would eat at the Lodge sometimes and go out to eat at really good restaurants in Fairbanks. Everything was included in the price including tips. We had activities during the day that included a reindeer farm, dog sledding, and Chena Hot Springs. Our guides were great and took us everywhere. They were also very knowledgeable about Fairbanks and Alaska. At the lodge we had a good size room with bathroom. If I got up before 8 am then I could go up and fix myself a K cup of coffee and at 8:15 they had coffee made. We had an ice maker and refrigerator downstairs where our room was. I cannot express how much we loved and enjoyed our trip. It was the trip of a lifetime!

Dec. 14-21, 2024. Fabulous tour. The lodge was great, the guides, Gary and Jack, were fabulous as well as our Aurora guide, Kyle, who taught us a lot about the aurora. Activities were diverse and fun and interesting. We had looked forward to real dog sledding and had an amazing experience. We were fortunate enough to see auroras 5 of the 6 nights, including a dancing Aurora. This adventure ranks as well as tours we take with a large company. We would definitely travel with them again.

Gondwana Ecotours - Northern Lights tour was by far the best tour I was ever on. The two day guides (Gary and Bonnie) did a remarkable job explaining the history of Alaska and interacting with each and every guest on this tour. Our night guide (Laurie) not only woke us up at every opportunity to see the lights, but she explained the science behind what causes the lights and how she predicts the spectacular displays provided overhead. While the lights are the main objective of this tour the day time activities are just as exciting and there is something for everyone; curling, dogsledding, hot springs, antique cars, breath taking scenery, and much much more. Additionally, the owners and staff of the Taste of Alaska Lodge couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was delightful. Lastly, we made new friends and shared a wonderful once in a lifetime experience with them.

Dec. 14-21, 2024. Fabulous tour. The lodge was great, the guides, Gary and Jack, were fabulous as well as our Aurora guide, Kyle, who taught us a lot about the aurora. Activities were diverse and fun and interesting. We had looked forward to real dog sledding and had an amazing experience. We were fortunate enough to see auroras 5 of the 6 nights, including a dancing Aurora. Love the small groups. This adventure ranks as highly as tours we take with a large company. We would definitely travel with them again.

We returned from our Alaskan Northern Lights tour with an amazing view of Gondwana Ecotours. They go above and beyond in every aspect of the tour to make sure everyone has the best time. Gary and Bonnie were the best guides and drivers available. There wasn’t anything we missed in Fairbanks Alaska. From Northern Lights to the dog sled riding and everything in between. We loved it. What an absolutely amazing experience we had with Gondwana for getting to see northern lights for the first time! Our day guides - Gary and Mark, did such a great job showing us around Fairbanks during the day. Perfect blend of downtime with organized activities. And our night guide - Laurie, did such a great job keeping watch for lights and sharing photos. The truly personalized experiences that I would not be able to book myself were the star standouts - having homemade stew and bread at Frigid Farm, hearing Daniel read passages from his own book, getting to experience the family run business of the lodge. It was all a wonderful experience and I can tell Gondwana put so much thought and care into ensuring that their tours truly make memories that will last a lifetime!

For us this trip was all about seeing the Northern Lights. So, here we are on the fifth day of our eight day trip, and no Northern Lights. Well, the first couple of days, we were feeling disappointed. But, let me tell you as the days passed I commented to my husband that if the lights didn't happen for us the trip was not a fail. We had a great time. We experienced Curling, dog sled rides, up close and personal with Riendeers, Museums, great food, alot of great local food. I cannot say enough about David, Greg and Kyle, our guides. They were amazing. Their stories and history on Alaska were interesting, informative and entertaining. Guess what? On the sixth night we got what we came for! An amazing and magnificent show of the Northern Lights! The pictures showed are from the shared album from our fellow travelers.

Just completed the small group Northern Lights tour which far exceeded our expectations. Knowledgeable and caring guides with an attention to detail. Itinerary was a good mix of history and daytime activities. Greg and David were both outstanding kept us safe and on schedule. This tour company is special in which they hire an dedicated aurora guide who every night monitors the skies with data as well as onsite visual siteings. So no worries that you will miss out on seeing the aurora. In addition they have great relationships with the local companies which was a plus.

What a wonderful experience provided by Gondwana in our search for the northern lights! We were fortunate to see the aroura 5 out of the 6 nights we were in Alaska and that was thanks to Laurie Y our night time guide. Our days were full of unique Alaska experiences and our day guides Jack Curtiss and Jack Jack Nelson made the trip special. I think Gondwana is the best way to go if you really want to experience the Northern Lights.

I just got home from their Northern Lights tour yesterday. All three guides were outstanding! The variety of activities was incredible! No one can complain you aren't fed! Plenty of food, all local businesses. From the owner, to the sales team, to customer service, all contact has been clear, friendly, and prompt! The guides. Just wow. They really complemented each other. Every day was fact-filled, laughter-filled, and amazing. They were all receptive to questions, incredibly accommodating, and compassionate. I was so impressed with the company and the guides I was home a few hours before booking the next one!

We just got home from our Northern Lights Alaskan trip with Gondwana. It was amazing from start to finish! Every day we had a new Alaskan experience, wonderful food, and then back to the lodge. We really enjoyed our Gondwana Northern Lights tour. It was incredible! We saw the Aurora 6 nights while at Northern Sky Lodge. They were amazing, bright, colorful and some nights filled over half the dark star filled sky. The daytime activities, meals and other events were all top notch. Each was wonderful and added just a little more icing on the cake. Our guides, Gary, Ryan and Kyle, were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, supportive and became good friends. We highly recommend Gondwana for a tour that pleasantly surprises you at every turn.

Seeing the Northern Lights was a bucket list item for me. January 2024 I was researching tours and Gondwana Ecotours came up. We reviewed the itinerary and schedule the Northern Lights Tour for the end of December and it was the most amazing trip. Our guide, Arabella, bus driver, Bonnie and Melissa, our aurora guide, were amazing. They both kept us entertained with Alaska history and personal stories. We saw the Aurora 5 nights and they were magical. The colors were spectacular and the dancing aurora beyond anything you can imagine. The activities like walking with the reindeer, dog sledding, museums, Chena Hot Springs, the sustainable farm, Alaska Pipeline and all the restaurants were exciting and fun. When we were learning to curl, we met Colin Hufman, an Olympian from the 2022 Beijing Olympics. We also thoroughly enjoyed staying at Taste of Alaska Lodge. The meals were great and Kory, Debbie and staff ensured our stay was perfect. The lodge setting was so beautiful and it was great to walk right outside the lodge when Melissa rang the chimes for the Aurora. We highly recommend the Northern Lights Tour!

Just completed our tour of the Northern Lights. 3/1-3/8 From start to finish everything was great. Staff, food and accommodations made for a real Alaskan experience. Luckily our tour included a trip to the start line of the 2025 Iditarod and the international ice carving festival which just happened to be our week. They made sure we did not miss this great experience and squeezed it all in without missing anything that was part of the original schedule. This trip is as real as it gets without moving to Alaska as a permanent resident. Shout out to our guides Arabella and Jack they are very knowledgeable and great guides and now friends.

I have done two trips with Gondwana and I cannot praise them enough. I did the Northern Light Alaska and Grizzly and Glaciers. Both trips were educational, fun and had nice accommodations that were quaint and very Alaskan. We were kept busy but there was enough down time. Our guides were superb and friendly, I can’t wait to go on the next trip with them!

Our Gondwana Northern Lights tour was amazing!! Seeing with our eyes the phenomenal display of nature is one thing, but to be under its spell for hours is something else. And we saw STEVE. We were blessed with good company, food, great Alaska people we met and the very professional, knowledgeable and friendly Gondwana staff. Ryan, Greg and Laurie (Aurora wizard) are the best guides. The tour covered everything you could ask for. Moose sightings, walking with the reindeers, dog sledding, including a visit to North Pole, AK and more!

WOW, wow, wow….! I cannot possibly rate this trip and this tour company highly enough. This was our third trip with Gondwana (the first two were to Tanzania and Rwanda) and once again, this trip did not disappoint and far exceeded our expectations. Our main reason for the tour was to see the northern lights, and boy did we see them (2 nights). They were spectacular !! But the entire trip was awesome from dog sledding to visiting a working farm, wonderful museums, curling, hot springs, etc. it was a very full week and David Barger, our guide, was excellent. So knowledgeable on everything Alaska. The accommodations were great too. Loved Kyle our northern lights guide who would stay up all night watching for the show to happen and letting us know when to come out. He was so knowledgeable on all things northern lights. Wow! What a week! And actually we still have one day left of our Northern Lights tour, but I wanted to go ahead and share how awesome it’s been! Our tour has been so fun! Gary and Jack have been absolutely amazing guides, they have become friends and have so much knowledge about the area! One thing I can say is, you will definitely not be bored or hungry on your tour ha!, we have visited so many fun and interesting places and Gondwana Tours thinks through literally every detail to make sure all is taken care of to give you the best experience possible. As far as the Northern Lights, wow! We have seen them in all of their glory this week! My husband and I had an amazing time on our Northern Lights tour this past week! We saw the lights and they were as breathtaking as I hoped they would be! When we weren’t viewing the lights, we were never bored or hungry! Ha! The tour was full of activities, where we not only had a lot of fun, but also learned so much about Alaska and those that call it home. We really enjoyed touring with a group of people, we made some new friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Our tour guides, Jack, Gary, and our aurora guide, Kyle were awesome! They were as fun, as they were knowledgeable! We loved spending the week with them. I can 100% say that my only disappointment about the week is that it’s over! Highly recommend booking a tour with them!

The guides, hotel staff and local experts were all very accommodating and on top of everything. No glitches or delays. One of my favorite things was meeting local people- as museum docents, and dinner hosts and the best was Daniel who had wonderful stories of living in the arctic circle. That said, nothing beats the nighttime northern lights, which we saw four of six nights. Sergius was just great at explaining the science and photographing them.

Seeing the northern lights was always on my bucket list. Bob and I were very happy with Gondwana showing us the top tier sites Fairbanks has to offer during the days before the wondrous glows in the night skies! Our day guides Dave and Ryan were very knowledgeable and attentive. Our Aurora guide Sergio alerted with a chime over night, and took awesome pictures of us and the lights. At the end he made a movie clip summarizing the week that brought tears to my eyes. What I liked most about Ecotours is the small size of our group. With only about a dozen of us, we traveled all together in a minibus. We were treated to all meals of our choice ( within reason) during the trip. The places they chose for us to meet them and stay for the week were dreamy! We honestly wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you!

A magical week indeed! From dog sledding, walking with reindeer, curling lessons, visit to an ice museum followed by a soak in the Hot Springs, lunch with an Intuit Eskimo, dinner with a pioneer family that served us freshly caught moose stew, museums to learn their history and culture, seeing the Alaskan pipeline … all ending with a visit to North Pole, Alaska and a visit with Santa himself - I would highly recommend this Northern Lights Tour by Gondwana EcoTours. ❤️❤️❤️

Our guides, Ryan and David, were excellent. The itinerary was packed and great and never a dull moment throughout the entire time. The trip was beyond great and and we had four nights of Aurora Borealis out of 7 days there! Will definitely use Gondwana again!

Out trip to Alaska was great. The Gondwana tours had everthing we wanted. The accomodations at the Taste of Alaska Lodge was terrific. We started everyday with a great breafast and then off we went. The schedule that they had for us kept us so busy, from the University of Alaska, dog sledding, a walk with the reindeer annd muc more. But best was viewing of the aurora borealis every night. The site of a lifetime. Our guides, Erica and David and Sergis our aurora watch to othe staff at the lodge, Debra, we had such a great time. It was cold but we sincerely loved it. This solstice Northern Lights tour was one of the best trips I've taken. As a solo traveler I'm very conscious of the companies I travel with and Gondwana Ecotours fulfilled all my expectations. I returned for the Alaska: Northern Lights Adventure this past Sunday. As you can see, I give this trip 5 stars. My main goal was to photograph the Northern Lights, which I was able to accomplish due to the excellent location (The Taste of Alaska Lodge) and an outstanding aurora guide (Sergius Hannan) who stayed up all night watching computer information and the sky, and waking us when the lights were active. The rest of the activities were an added bonus: Dog Sled rides, The University of Alaska Museum of the North tour, Pioneer Museum, Curling lessons, Chena Hot Springs were all fun and informative. Our 2 guides, David and Erica, were great. Both are very professional, knowledgeable and people-oriented who make the trip enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour, the 2 guides and Aurora guide, and the Taste of Alaska Lodge.

I could not imagine a better Alaskan experience than I had on my Northern Lights Adventure with Gondwana! From pre-tip communications to the incredible details that went into the on-the-ground tour, the entire team went out of their way to make sure our entire group had the time of our lives. It's hard to pick a favorite daytime activity from the week, but seeing the aurora during our stay at A Taste of Alaska is hard to beat. Our Aurora watcher Kyle was great; he would send us a wake-up call when the Aurora’s were about to get active. He also took lots of amazing pictures of the Aurora’s and answered lots of questions. Our daytime guides, Ryan and Greg were excellent. They provided us with lots of information about Alaska and anticipated our needs, explaining what we would be doing each day and how to dress. The Taste of Alaska Lodge was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved not having to plan every activity and we did a lot more than if we had visited on our own. The aurora viewing tour was a great experience. Stay at a beautiful lodge, ate great food, visited points of interest. Guides were focused on making clients having a great experience, it was nice they provided an expert guide on on viewing the auroras. It was an excellent experience, I can highly recommend Gondwana Ecotours.

Phenomenal trip from start to finish—everything was organized in a way that made it feel totally stress-free. Seeing the northern lights several nights in a row was something we won’t forget, and the activities like dog sledding and reindeer encounters made it even more special. The small group size made a huge difference too, giving us more time with the guides and creating a relaxed environment where everyone in the group could easily connect and enjoy the experience together.

This was hands down the best trip that we have ever done, so get ready for a long read. Our group did the Northern Lights Adventure tour with Gondwana in late December 2025 spanning into the new year. The specific employees that handled our tour were Erica Hausfeld, Jack Nelson & Kyle Hasner who definitely went above and beyond to make this trip one that we will always remember. Erica & Jack were our day time guides that took care of everything day to day to make this one of the easiest trips that we have ever been on. I am completely spoiled now with not having to make one single plan or book one single reservation while we were on this tour. They kept us apprised of the schedule for the following day and when unexpected things were thrown their way they came up with a solution and alternate plans. The wide variety of planned events meant that there was something for everyone and it provided great exposure to everything Alaska. Kyle was the person that stayed up all night to monitor the skies and various website information to identify the probability of if / when the lights would appear. A lot of times that was at midnight or later, so this was an invaluable perk to this trip. The first couple of nights my family went to bed in our layered clothes so that we could jump out of bed and finish dressing in more layers when Kyle came knocking on our door to wake us up for the lights. Then a few of us decided on subsequent nights that we would just stay up and play games until the lights made their appearance. We were very lucky to see the lights every night while we were at the lodge and they were beautiful. Kyle took pictures of the lights with his nice camera and we all had access to those pictures which also allowed us to sit back and enjoy the lights even more. My husband has a gluten allergy and they took care of things from that aspect as well. On the meals that they provided either at the lodge or those that were catered he had options to make sure that he was also well fed. I will always remember that one of the dinners that was catered, the chef had actually baked him a gluten free cake. Our area of Alaska was experiencing an unusual extended cold snap with very, very cold temperatures. We got a pic next to a temperature sign that read -45F which is crazy, but will also be one of things that I will always remember. They even put a fireworks show on for us for New Years Eve including a champagne toast. Everything about this trip was memorable and it is an understatement to say that I would highly recommend it. Thanks for the bucket list trip!!
